Jane Curry’s publishing expertise and experience is second to none.

Jane started her publishing career straight after university in England, securing a job at London’s Time Life books writing captions and making tea for important people like Kit van Tulleken.

Her career brought her to Australia where she became Managing Director of Weldon Publishing, Lansdowne Publishing, Macquarie Library and National Book Distributors. Jane has also been CEO of UK listed Quarto PLC’s Asia Pacific division with responsibility for China, SE Asia and ANZ.

Jane has extensive international experience in export sales doing business in New York, Warsaw, Kuala Lumpur and Beijing to name a few. She is a regular attendee at all the major book fairs: Frankfurt, London, and Beijing. Jane was a winner of the 2014 Westpac/AFR 100 Women of Influence award.

Jane is passionate about equity of access to the world of arts and culture. She is an elected director of the Copyright Agency and sits on the advisory board of Rupert Myer’s Arts and Culture think-tank A New Approach.

After publishing her own list at Pan Macmillan Australia, Jane established her own trade-publishing house Ventura Press in 2002.

Ventura Press is a bold mix of commercial and literary titles, with a sales and distribution partnership with Simon & Schuster Australia.
